ostara & the spring equinox | who is the pagan goddess, what’s with the hare & how to celebrate

Ostara is a pagan holiday, celebrating the spring equinox - a time of perfect balance between the light & dark, day & night. Traditionally this is celebrated on march 20th and is a wonderful time for a fresh start, to awaken from the hibernation of winter & to reassess our daily routines & rituals. Eostre, or Ostara is a Germanic Goddess of the dawn, bringer of spring time & associated with fertility, femininity & is even where we get the word oestrogen from. Her story has strong links to the easter bunny (lots of christian holidays have pagan roots) so if you've ever wondered why a bunny delivers colourful eggs to us on easter, Ostara might be why. The story goes that Ostara found a little sparrow dead in the snow right after she awoke late one year to bring us the spring, feeling guilty, she breathed life back into him, transforming him into a strong white hare.. the hare would lay colourful eggs each year in honour of the goddess. --- weird & witchyis a podcast that talks about the magic of yoga, rituals, tarot, crystals, astrology, self love, mental health, spiritual stuff, spooky things and anything of the mystical variety 🐀 everywhere you can find me here: https://linktr.ee/kristyscoven business enquiries: kristysyogacoven@gmail.com -- intro & outro music by the talented (& dare i say ) martin macdonald - you can find him here: https://linktr.ee/twopersonbookclub -- CHAPTERS 00:00 intro 00:30 ostara | the spring equinox 02:15 ostara | the pagan goddess of the dawn 02:57 ostara & the hare 05:40 in mythology, always gets weird 07:00 the origins of ostara 08:56 how to celebrate the spring equinox #kristyscoven #weirdandwitchyshit #ostara #springequinox #mythology #easter #eostre #paganism #wicca
